Interview with Lea Boodee, Managing Director of On Cue Conferencing

When did you first start using Business Studio?
We have been using Business Studio for many years now.
Before Business Studio Innovators, who were you using instead?
I bought into On Cue Conferencing in 2006 and continued on with the current accountant they had been using for a while.
What compelled you to look for something different?
Justine was different – she understood the business. I was new to running a business when I started and she really took me under her wing and helped me grow.
In addition, I worked with Justine as part of a Not-for-Profit organisation when we received a high tax bill. She took one look at it and said - ‘That’s not right’. She used her initiative and ended up saving the organisation nearly $10,000 in tax!
When you started working with Business Studio Innovators what made you feel you had made the right decision?
Like me, Justine is good with technology and keen to continually learn. As well as the basics, like getting Xero up and running, together we have and are now looking at new technology that can support business growth and increase productivity and efficiency. Business Studio are also there for the strategy side of things. It’s not just the transactional accountant I was used to.
What is Business Studio Innovators doing for you now?
In addition to helping us meet all our tax obligations, Justine is my business mentor and that’s been a really big thing. She’s always there to help us out and in the background checking on things. You really feel she’s looking out for her clients and keeps us all on track!
What do you wish Business Studio Innovators did that it doesn’t do today?
I am always looking for ways to streamline and integrate technology. Justine and I share this passion so together we are looking into new options out there and upskilling in these.
How would you explain to a friend the job that Business Studio Innovators do for you?
Justine will go that extra length to understand an organisation, help them fulfil their obligations but make it valuable for them. Her strongpoint is technology and it feels like a real team effort working together on performance improvements. With the growth of AI particularly, it’s such an important area.
Do you feel like you are getting value? Does this value outweigh the cost?
Absolutely! To have that personal contact that you know you can always ring up with any queries is invaluable.
