When did you first start using Business Studio?
Approximately 2 years ago.
With that timeline in mind, take me back to life before Business Studio Innovators,who were you using instead?
We were previously using another accounting firm in Nelson but we felt like a small cog in the wheel. We were receiving very generic advice, communication was one-way and I was getting irritated that I couldn’t get quick or advice tailored to our unique requirements. We’re an unusual firm acting for HNW individuals and operating globally so we require tailored advice.
How did you find out about Business Studio Innovators?
I had previously met Justine when we served together on a board of a not-for-profit and had been impressed by her attention to detail and how she took a whole of business approach rather than just a binary, accounting approach.
When you started working with Business Studio Innovators what made you feel you had made the right decision?
We first transitioned the accounts management of our smaller business to Business Studio Innovators and about a year later the larger Law Practice. Working with Justine gives me confidence as I know I can pick up the phone and ask for very complex advice accounting, tax and business matters and know that she is accessible and available to us. She also found that we had previously paid too much tax on one of our entities and assisted us in getting a considerable refund.
What is Business Studio Innovators doing for you now?
They act as our tax and accounting advisors and provide ad hoc advice on business matters throughout the year.
Now that you have been working with Business Studio Innovators, what is the number 1 thing you can do now that you couldn’t do before?
Justine has a great network and she not only uses that network sometimes to provide us with the right advice (and I respect that because you must know your strengths and seek additional advice when needed) but also for referrals. We have referred clients to each other. That reflects how we operate as a business too.
How would you explain to a friend the job that Business Studio Innovators do for you?
Business Studio Innovators is much more than an accountant – they provide sound and practical business and financial advice.
