  1. When did you first start using Business Studio? 

I took over my business in January 2024 and started working with Business Studio in April 2024. 


  1. How did you find out about Business Studio Innovators? 

I rang around a few accountants in Nelson. I’m new to Nelson so didn’t have any contacts. When I rang Business Studio, I was taken seriously from the start and welcomed.  


  1. Why did you decide to choose Business Studio Innovators over other options? Did anything stand out? 

It was obvious how passionate and motivated Justine is about her work, that came across straight away – it felt like a match. In the free consult, I loved how she was straight up and gave me some tough love but she was ‘dead right’ on everything.  


  1. When you started working with Business Studio Innovators what made you feel you had made the right decision? 

Unlike other firms I’d approached, Business Studio made me feel valued and gave the time and patience to learn about me and my business. It didn’t matter that I was a ‘small fish’ - Justine made me feel like my business was just as important as any of their big fish clients. They were taking me seriously and giving me valuable advice from the outset.  


From Day 1, I walked away with a list of homework to do. Everything was thoroughly explained to me in terms I could understand. I know my business (dog and cat grooming) but I have no idea about tax and compliance and this was all described in-depth and very clearly.  


At our second meeting, both Justine and I shared more about ourselves as people and our businesses. This really allowed us to connect and strengthened our working relationship. I felt like she was there for me and I trust her opinion and value the homework I’m given when we meet. Trust is a key thing.  


  1. What is Business Studio Innovators doing for you now? 

Business Studio helped me set up properly – registering the company, setting up Xero and completing all my tax obligations. Justine even helped me negotiate with Spark for a dual sim for my business phone. It really is ‘much more than accounting’ - it’s all over business support.  


Together, we are also planning for future expansion. Soon, I hope to be able to add a new service and that needs careful planning. Business Studio also help me review my ‘time v effort v money’ allowing me to see which of my services are more profitable. Justine also helped me not to discount my prices and stay firm even as a new business and new person in Nelson.  


  1. How would you explain to a friend the job that Business Studio Innovators do for you? 

Justine at Business Studio is very clear about what you need to do, takes time with you regardless of what stage your business is in and always follows up which is great. She can simplify and put complex things into layman's terms. Business Studio provide critical, strategic advice and are very caring towards their clients. Like I said, it’s really ‘much more than just accounting.’  


Ultimately, they provide peace of mind. They are trustworthy and you know they have your back.
